Blessings on a Gentile and an Israelite

From Ruth 2- 4:22 come one of my most favorite stories in the bible.
There are so many reasons why I love it. It’s overflowing with all kinds of people and people groups that are blessing one another which is always nice to read.

I come from a family of 5 girls and I know that my own father wanted very much a boy and I guess I have that to thank for the reason all of my sisters are even here. There with in the story is as far as I am concerned the most prized line and I quote “15 He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.”It’s that better to you than seven sons and in that day and age I think that says a lot and I over looked it for years. God has done a mighty work in me to appreciate that I was born a girl. I felt less than for many years and that line is part of the turn around among others but that’s another story on another day.

The other thing that really stands out is the amazing Daughter in-law she was. If you have lived to see your sons marry you know how blessed you are if your relationship with your daughter in-law is a good one. Let’s just say the experience I had with my first daughter in-law taught me much in regards to how I am with my own Mother in-law. I wanted it to be a good one and for her to know that I love her and care about her.

Now the other thing that I think is HUGE in this story and I mean HUGE is the lineage! Think about it – for years wasn’t it about marrying with in the people? These were Israelites and here is Ruth she is a GENTILE and Boaz and Ruth are blessed and blessed and blessed again in regards to marrying and blessings over the coming children. Our Saviour comes from this line.
21 Salmon the father of Boaz, Boaz the father of Obed,22 Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David.

P.S. Boaz also did the right thing by being honest and fair about one other clansman redeemer and went with what God would truly give him in the situation and didn't just try to make it happen without telling anyone. This was blessed and kissed by God himself and can you remember at all the sad state of affairs that both Naomi and Ruth were in when they arrived back to Naomi's home town? This story is a true rise from the ashes kind of a story !
